Musafir Cafe Netflix Series Review

Let's talk about a series that had an emotional impact on me. The series is Musafir Cafe, recently released on Netflix. I wanted to watch this series not just because it was trending on Instagram Reels, but because I already knew about the novel with the same title written by Divya Prakash Dubey. Without overthinking much, here is my honest review of the series.

One line verdict — Some love stories don't need a happy ending to stay with you.

Why I Wanted to Watch It

I wanted to watch Musafir Cafe not just because it was trending on Instagram Reels. I already knew about the novel with the same title written by Divya Prakash Dubey, and that was one of the main reasons I wanted to watch the series.

In reality, I have never read the novel, so this review is completely based on my experience of watching the Netflix series. I am not going to compare the book and the series here.

Interestingly, I was not aware that Divya Prakash Dubey, the author of the book, also appeared in a cameo role in the series. It was a small appearance, but I liked seeing the author become a part of his own story on screen.

A Story About Love, Dreams and Destiny

The series has three main characters — Sudha, Chander, and Preeti.

Without giving away any spoilers, I feel the series gives an important lesson to the audience. Sometimes, we should not give up our dreams just because of love. Whether it is a girl or a boy does not matter. We often think that giving up our goals is the only way to stay close to someone.

But Musafir Cafe tells us something different. If we stay focused on our goals, destiny has its own way of helping us find and achieve both our dreams and our love.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but at the right time.

You may already know the story, or you will understand it once you watch the series. I don't want to reveal too much because I think it is better to experience the story yourself.

It Reminded Me of Never Kiss Your Best Friend

While watching Musafir Cafe, at some points I was reminded of another series called Never Kiss Your Best Friend, available on ZEE5.

The stories are different, but there were moments that gave me a similar feeling. The friendship, love, misunderstandings and relationships between the characters reminded me of that series.

If you have watched and enjoyed Never Kiss Your Best Friend, you might also connect with the emotions in Musafir Cafe.

Performances

Talking about the performances, all the actors have done a great job.

I was already familiar with Vikrant Massey, who plays the character of Chander, and Mahima Makwana, who plays Preeti. Both of them have done a good job and their performances feel natural.

This was the first time I watched and really appreciated the performance of Vedika Pinto, who plays the character of Sudha.

Her performance was a pleasant surprise for me. She handles the emotional parts of the character very well and makes Sudha feel real.

A Small Connection with Hindi Literature

Another thing that caught my attention was the names Sudha and Chander.

These names are already familiar to people who know Hindi literature because they are the names of the famous characters from the novel Gunahon Ka Devta by Dharamvir Bharati.

The story of Musafir Cafe is different, but this small connection with Hindi literature was interesting to notice while watching the series.

Cinematography and Set Design

I also want to appreciate the work of the cinematographer and the set designers.

The visuals are simple and beautiful. Nothing feels too much or overdone. The locations, camera work and overall look of the series match the mood of the story and help the emotions feel more natural.

A Line That Stayed With Me

After watching Musafir Cafe, one thought came to my mind:

"Some stories are never meant to have an ending."

"Kuch kahaniyan bani hi nahi hoti poori hone ke liye."

I am not sure if this is an exact line from the series, but this is exactly how I felt after finishing it.

Does the Story End?

There was one question in my mind before starting the series: Is the story complete?

After watching the series, I want to tell you that it ends on an open note. It does not answer everything, and that leaves some room for a second season.

If the series performs well and gets a good response from viewers, there is definitely a chance that we may see another season.

Personally, I would not mind watching a Season 2.

Final Verdict

I have not read the original novel, so I cannot compare the book with the series. This review is purely based on my experience of watching the Netflix adaptation.

Musafir Cafe is not a fast-paced romantic series with a twist in every episode. It is a simple story about love, friendship, dreams and destiny. It slowly connects with you, and some of its emotions stay in your mind even after the series ends.

For me, the performances, especially Vedika Pinto's performance as Sudha, were one of the highlights of the series. I also liked the way the story made me think about love and our own dreams.

I think this is enough to convince you to watch the series.
